I attended the Plastic Identification Tool workshop at Future Talks in Munich in November 2019 to learn more about the application of this interactive, web-based tool that helps identify or characterize plastics.
This workshop was taught with a kit of new and degraded plastic samples that help aid identification. Using these samples, users can compare olfactory, optical and other properties and enter them into a responsive questionnaire, resulting in a probable polymer characterization.
This workshop was excellent and I have already used one of the techniques learned – identifying films using polarized light- to identify an object!
